Depict Evaluation

our task was too create a video that had to be no longer than 90 seconds for a competition on Depict. If the entry/video was good enough then we would be entered in the 2015 competition. The first thing to do was complete all the paperwork, which included the idea of what our video was going to be about. we then had 6 days to film the whole thing, this also meant securing the location. Once these 12 days was over we then had another 6 days to edit the whole thing.  On the 28th of November the whole thing had to be edited and completed.
Camerawork:-

In this video there are a wide range of shots used. We decided that low shots were a good shot to use because we could two different types of low angles, one looking up from the ground and another were you are only looking at his feet.

These are two different low angles that we used in the video. The top one adds suspense because you cant see who it is or what they are doing. the one to the left is making something or someone looking superior.

I believe that we used a wide range of shots that were shot to a good quality. Along with low angle shots we used an amazing high angle shot at the end of the video.

The reason why I like this shot is because in the video it zooms up towards the sky whilst fading out. this had to be one my favorite shots in the video and also one of my favorite to shoot.

In the video there were some bad shot scene, which could of have been shot in higher quality or re-shot to make them look better.
The first shot that I wish we could of re-shot is the side on shot.

The reason why I dont like this shot is because I think the two guys in the scene are not centered and makes the shot look uneven and also makes one  more superior than the other.

The second shot I wish we could re-shoot is my favorite shot, the high angle ending shot. even though this is my favorite shot it has a huge continuity error as it is zooming up, between the guys face and the black pole you can notice bags there, when we were editing I had noticed it in mise-en-scene.

Mise-en-scene:-

I was very impressed with with over mise-en-scene and the main thing I liked about it was that it looked very natural it didn't look setup. By using a non-setup area we had no control of what happened behind us because it was a pedestrian area so it was free to use for the public

In some of the scene the traffic was going by so it was hard to shoot some of the shots. In  this particular scene you can clearly hear the traffic, it wasn't all our fault due to the fact it was hard to re-shoot it because the road was being used a lot of the time.

Editing & Continuity

With the editing we found it pretty easy due to the fact we had two members of the group who was comfortable editing with Premiere Pro.
If you go to 1:10 and watch from this point to the end you can see that we was comfortable with editing.

With our short film we only had a couple of Continuity errors but unfortunately these errors were major errors. In the first half the guy running has his shirt open but in the second half of the film it is open.

I have already pointed the continuity error out previously but it is a huge error in my eyes. Not many people notice the "End Bag Shot". At about 1:09 it quickly zooms up to in the air, but if you freeze frame the start you can see in the corner blended in are some bags. we didn't have no time to re-shoot the last shot due to some times issues.

Sound

We didn't have much sound in our movie. The only sound was from the speech and the song. We looked around on the internet for some songs but couldn't find any songs without copyright that was suitable for our movie. So we decided to  make some, luckily for us we had a musician in out group who made some music that was fitting for out movie, which was all copyright free.

Overall

Overall i was very happy with the movie. I thought the idea was good and the footage was good. i believe we could of done better with some things such as the camerawork and clips, but for the time slot we had i think it came together very well. I am glad we set it to black and white because it gave it an effect like Clerks Which is what we was aiming for. Overall i am truly happy with the outcome of this piece.
